It’s 2 a.m., and you jump out of bed hearing the sound of a crying baby. 

As you stumble out of bed, exhaustion on your eyelids, a whirlwind of thoughts swirls in your mind. “Is the baby hungry? Did I remember to change their diaper? What if something’s wrong?”

With each passing moment, the questions multiply, and before you know it, your mind feels like a runaway train, heading towards overwhelm.

But it doesn’t stop there. Throughout the day, as you juggle feeding schedules, playdates, and naptime battles, your mind becomes a battleground of doubts and fears. “Am I doing enough? Am I a good mom? What if I’m messing this up?” The constant loop of thoughts leaves you feeling frazzled, overwhelmed, and questioning your abilities as a mother.

Sound familiar? You’re not alone. Every mom, even the most experienced one, has moments where her mind goes wild.

 

Christian Motherhood Mindset

Mindset has become quite the buzzword lately, hasn’t it? Everywhere you look, there are countless strategies and approaches floating around social media, promising to help you unlock your fullest potential.

Some swear by the power of manifesting your dreams, envisioning and attracting your ideal life into reality. Others advocate for the practice of daily meditation.

But regardless of what social media influencers of today have to say, God has had something to say about the state of your mind since the beginning of time. 

Check out these Bible verses on the power of your mind:

Romans 12:2 “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”

2 Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love, and of a sound mind.”

Psalm 139:23-24 “Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”

God encourages us to take captive every thought. He knows the profound impact our thoughts have on our beliefs, actions, and ultimately, our lives. 

By actively filtering our thoughts through the lens of His truth and wisdom, we can discern between what aligns with His perfect will and what leads us astray. This practice empowers us to create a mindset rooted in faith, love, and righteousness. 

 

So, here are four steps to kickstart your journey towards a healthier mom mindset:

Step 1: Recognize Your Thoughts

Take a moment to tune in to your inner dialogue. What are you thinking about? Are those thoughts empowering you or holding you back? Remember, your thoughts shape your actions, so it’s essential to pay attention to what’s going on between your ears.

Step 2: Acknowledge Your Feelings

Feelings are like signposts, pointing us towards our thoughts. When you experience a strong emotion, take a pause and ask yourself, “What am I feeling? Why am I feeling this way?” By acknowledging your feelings, you gain insight into the underlying thoughts driving them.

Step 3: Evaluate Your Thoughts

Now comes the critical part. Take a good look at those thoughts floating around in your mind. Are they true reflections of reality, or are they distorted perceptions? How do they align with God’s word? Challenge yourself to discern between truth, lies, and neutral thoughts. This step allows you to take control of your mindset and steer it in the right direction.

Step 4: Take Action

Armed with clarity about your thoughts and feelings, it’s time to take action. Choose to align your mindset with God’s truth and wisdom. Reject lies and negative thinking.  Focus on thoughts that uplift and inspire. 

As Christian moms, we understand that true mindset transformation begins with God. He’s the ultimate designer of our minds, and He knows us better than we know ourselves. By grounding our mindset in biblical truth, we tap into a source of wisdom and strength that transcends human understanding.
