Does Your Worship Do This?

Hands up, Head down, High praise or Face to the floor worship is much more to do then what we do with our bodies.
Jesus said, “ The hour is coming and is now here when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” John 4: 23-24
It’s not just a feeling and it’s not just Bible truth. It’s both and. So what does that look like in real life?
- The truth part is easy enough. Does the content match the word of God, the character of God, or what He says about us? Does it reflect Jesus?
- The spirit part might need a bit more explanation.
Let’s break it down:
Thessalonians 5:23 Now may the God of peace make you holy in every way , and may your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again.
Spirit- The part of you that is alive because of Christ and sealed with Holy Spirit.
Soul- This is your mind, your will and your emotions. Or as I like to say my thinker, my picker and my feeler.
Body- Your skin, bones, 5 senses and all the physical parts of you.
Secular music though not necessarily bad only connects your body and your soul. You hear that song from when you where a kid. You sing all the words because you remember them all. You also remember where you were when you heard it. You smile and are moved by it.
But worship music that is heard or sung connects your spirit to the truth and does something special. This kind of worship goes deeper than just the connection of body and soul.
It goes to the deep part of your spirit connecting all three part of you spirit soul and body. It is all consuming.
Then something even better happens. The music written with truth in triggers internal things of Holy Spirit and what comes from that is pure worship.
Worship coming from deep in you, through your soul in agreement and out of your body.
Your ears hear your voice. Your emotions experience the heart connection. Your mind validates with it. Your will expresses agreement with it.
The fullness of worship is experienced.
Your spirit connecting to God brings wholeness to your worship. And you are truly worshipping God in spirit and in truth. It gives you and God pleasure.
This kind of worship requires an inside deep dive work. But is heavenly to experience.
